FAQ Hub

This FAQ Hub collects the questions players ask most about The Lantern of the Laughless Saint during live Steam Early Access (unlocked August 17, 2026). Answers stay tied to public Steam text and developer comments. For full essays, follow the internal links.

Release and Early Access

Is it out? Yes—in Steam Early Access since August 17, 2026. Snapshot: EA Launch — What’s Live. Date history: Release Date & Early Access.

How long is Early Access? Developers say less than a year, aiming for updates every 1–2 weeks, with free content and improvements afterward. Track the living plan on the EA Roadmap.

What is in the EA build? Steam’s EA notes describe a fully playable open world with single-player and multiplayer, 50+ quests, 60+ unique enemies, 100+ equippable items, spell crafting and alchemy, full co-op, and a completable main quest—about 30–40 completionist hours without guides.

Co-op and solo

Is co-op real or bolted on? Steam states the entire game is fully playable in co-op, including online co-op and shared/split-screen options, plus single-player. Read How to Play Co-op.

Do Amphitheater consequences share in co-op? Consequences belong to the group. Agree on moral tone before major quests (Amphitheater Choices).

Price, platforms, language

What does it cost now? Steam has shown $19.99 list with a −10% introductory offer to $17.99 through August 24, 2026 while that banner remains. Public messaging also says the team may raise the price slightly after EA. Always trust the live widget—see Price and Wishlist.

Which platforms? Windows PC via Steam at current store messaging. Network is required for multiplayer.

Which languages? Steam currently lists English for interface, full audio, and subtitles. This fan wiki also offers French, German, and Spanish guides.

Systems players ask about

What is the Amphitheater? An empty stage that fills with friends or darker phantoms based on how you treat the island’s broken and wanting—mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.

Do skills work like Morrowind? Developer comments describe skills that improve through use plus a perk tree. Train what you click (Skills and Perks, Early Priority Skills).

Are there NPC schedules? Yes—semi-simulated routines (for example a shopkeeper who drinks, sleeps, and returns around 6am) per developer comments covered in press. Practical habits: NPC Schedules.

How do I learn enemies? See Enemies and Threats for threat literacy without spoiler dumps.

Can I finish the main quest in EA? Yes per store notes. Spoiler-safe habits: Main Quest (Spoiler-Safe).

Spell crafting—safe? Abuse is welcome; hubris kills. Use Spell Crafting.

Alchemy and fishing at EA? Listed among present systems that will be fleshed out during polish (Alchemy and Fishing).

PC, content warnings, community

Minimum PC? Windows 10 64-bit, quad-core class CPU (i5-4460 cited), 8 GB RAM, GTX 970 / R9 290 class GPU, DirectX 12, ~8 GB storage. Full checklist: System Requirements.

Mature content? Fantasy violence with blood splatter; mild nudity if you steal NPC outfits; no genitalia per Steam’s developer blurb (Mature Content).

Crashes or co-op sync issues? Start with EA Troubleshooting, then file clean reports via Community and Feedback.

Relation to The Holy Fool? Lantern shares toolkit/gameplay with its successor and is framed as prologue-adjacent—see The Holy Fool.
